Q: How do I use 8player for my media content?
A: 8player is a DLNA player, so you should use it with any DLNA compatible server or you can use 8player as a player for local files by adding media files via iTunes.

Here you can find some information about DLNA technology: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Living_Network_Alliance
Plenty of NAS devices already have embedded DLNA servers, so you should simply turn them on.

Here is the list of some servers to be installed:

Q: What should I do if 8player does not find my DLNA server?
A: To verify what causes this problem (server or application) you can check your server with any other DLNA client for iOS (for example, iMediaControl). If another DLNA client does not see the server as well it means something is wrong either with network setup or with your server. To solve this problem please check your network settings or contact your server manufacturer.

Q: What should I do if I can't refresh my content list?
A: Such a problem is most likely caused by the server, as DLNA servers need some time to index all folders and files. You can speed up this process by restarting your server.
Besides you can also check your server with any other DLNA client for iOS (e.g. iMediaControl) and verify if it finds the content correctly.

Q: How do I establish remote access to my server?
A: There are two ways to make it:
1) set up VPN access to your home network and follow this manual: http://08software.com/products/8player/vpn
or
2) set up ports forwarding by following this manual: http://08software.com/products/8player/3g
